‘This is the weirdest franchise that I have ever played in’ – Andre Russell hits out at Jamaica Tallawahs
Jamaica Tallawahs, one of the teams in Caribbean Premier League is facing heavy criticism from their own players. Recently, Chris Gayle, veteran West Indian opener took a dig at the franchise and their assistant coach Ramnaresh Sarwan after he was released from the team ahead of the upcoming edition. Now, Andre Russell has joined the bandwagon, who has pointed towards unprofessionalism in the side.
Recently in a YouTube video, the Universe Boss opened up saying that Tallawahs assistant coach was the reason behind his ouster from the team. Moreover, he also blamed the team’s chief executive officer Jeff Miller and owner Krish Persaud for “playing a game” with him and criticised them for doing the same.

In a recent interview, Andre Russell also came out all guns blazing against Jamaica Tallawahs. He said that this is the weirdest team he has ever played for in his entire career. As per him, the people should reach out to him as he is not a normal player like others but that is not the case. The 32-year-old added that he feels like a first-class player, who recently played his first game.
“This year was way different. This is the weirdest franchise that I have ever played in. And when I mean weird, people that [are] supposed to reach out to you as an individual, and I am not just a normal player in the Jamaica Tallawahs team – I was once a leader. I realise how they look at things and how they do things,” Andre Russell said as quoted by India Today.
Russell recited the fact that he doesn’t know what is happening at the moment in the team. According to him, there is a big communication problem that adds fuel to the controversy. In the end, he concluded that this might be his last season playing for Tallawahs as he will not be playing in the next one.
“The communication was the biggest problem when it comes to all of this. Up till now, I don’t know anything that is going on. I don’t know anything that was happening in the Jamaica Tallawahs team. I think this might be my last season for Jamaica Tallawahs. I’m just clearing the air,” he added.
