Ben Stokes has heaped praises on his England and the Rajasthan Royals teammate Jos Buttler for the way he plays. He has picked the latter as the most versatile white-ball players in world cricket at the moment pointing out the way he batted in the World Cup final. Interestingly, it was the duo of Stokes and Buttler that bailed England out of trouble in the title-clash least year at Lord’s.

Coming in to bat at 86/4 in the 242-run chase, the wicketkeeper-batsman, along with Stokes, stitched a patient stand and helped England come back in the game. Buttler scored an exceptional half-century during his 110-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Stokes. Unfortunately, he got out on 59 off 60 deliveries but made sure that his team was ahead in the game when he got out.

More than anything, the way he grafted his knock was praised the most and even Ben Stokes pointed out the same while lavishing praises on his mate.

He is an absolute nightmare for opposition bowler or captain, says Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes felt that Jos Buttler is the best ODI player at the moment for the way he bats according to the situation. The all-rounder also termed him as the nightmare for any opponent in the world cricket. “For me he is one of the most versatile and best ODI players in the world right now. You know he can destroy you; he can hit you 360 but he can also play innings like that in the World Cup final.

“To have that skill set as an ODI player is an absolute nightmare for an opposition captain or bowler,” Stokes said while speaking to Rajasthan Royals spin consultant and New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi in The Royals Podcast Episode 5. As far as the World Cup final is concerned, Ben Stokes took over after Buttler got out and played a memorable knock to remain unbeaten on 84.

England could tie the game only because of him as wickets tumbled in the death overs at the other end. He was also at the helm a month later helping England stay alive in the Ashes series which is termed as the best knock ever in Test cricket.
