I feel there will be no IPL this year, T20 World Cup also likely to be postponed: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan pacer has come out saying that he can’t see the T20 World Cup and Indian Premier League 2020 happening this year due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. The former pacer has also opened up on what cricketers can work on in this free time that will help them in improving their game.

There is no part in the world that is not affected by the pandemic. The Corona warriors are busy finding perfect vaccination to protect every individual from the novel virus. But, they have failed so far to get a breakthrough in their attempts. This has thrown the sporting activities out from the picture and there is no exact update that when they will be back on track for the fans.

In a live interaction with fans on HELO app, Shoaib Akhtar said that he feels the T20 World Cup that is scheduled to begin from October might get postponed due to the virus outbreak. Moreover, the chances are quite slim that IPL 2020 will be played this year. He also added the players have got enough time to make their immune system strong. as it will help them to get back strongly when cricket will be back on the track.

“T20 World Cup, starting October 18 is likely to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I also feel that there will be no IPL this year due to the pandemic. But this break is the best time for the cricketers to work on their immune system and get back with the same intensity and vigour when the sporting action resumes,” Shoaib Akhtar said during the live session on HELO app.

He also recited that this is the perfect time to improve the bilateral relations between India and Pakistan, who have not played a single series against each other in the last eight years. The 44-year-old also praised India PM Narendra Modi to enforce lockdown in the country in order to contain the virus and protect every individual from the same.

“It is high time when we can have a good bilateral relationship between India and Pakistan through sport. Lockdown was the best decision taken by the Modi-led government in India. That is the only way you can contain a pandemic like this,” he stated.
