‘It will be good if these things are not done’ – Babar Azam on his comparisons with Virat Kohli
Babar Azam, the prolific batsman from Pakistan has emerged as the new batting superstars in international cricket. He is technically very sound and looks very similar to Virat Kohli. Moreover, the debates are going on if Pakistan batsman is better than his Indian counterpart or not. Now, Babar himself has come out and opened up over the same in an interaction.
The 25-year-old made his international debut back in 2015 and since then he has turned himself into the run-machine for his national side. He has a big range of strokes in his cricketing dictionary and plays all of them very elegantly. Babar banks on his traditional batting style that becomes a headache for the opposition bowling unit. Also, he looks pretty calm and composed on the field.
Babar Azam says he is ready for the challenges
In an interaction with the reporters via video conference, Pakistan‘s T20 and ODI captain said that it will be great if he is not compared to the likes of Virat Kohli. As per him, he is a different kind of player. The number one T20 captain also added that his job is just to score runs on the field and make his side win more games.
“It will be good if these comparisons are not done. He [Kohli] is a different type of player, I am a different type. That’s why I always say my job is to focus on helping my team win’,” Babar Azam was quoted as saying by India Today.
Earlier this month, he was appointed Pakistan’s new skipper in the fifty-over format. He also opened up over many big challenges lying ahead of him while at the helm. And, he is well prepared to take every challenge going into the future.
“Challenges are to be faced. I know there are talks about pressure and responsibility coming to me very soon in my career. But I can’t say ‘I am not ready’. It’s your responsibility. People have given me this responsibility because they felt I am ready. I am ready for the challenge,” he added.
